Partner with nonprofits and schools to develop and implement non-regulatory monitors in neighborhoods.
TCEQ currently operates a small number of air quality monitoring stations in the region and lacks the ability to provide detailed data on the neighborhood scale.
The City will help create a network of trained volunteers and supportive partners working together to gather information on local air quality. The City will work with nonprofits and schools to install and monitor air quality at the neighborhood level for non-regulatory purposes, and to raise awareness about public health and air quality. Location selection for these air monitors will be conducted in coordination with stakeholders and concerns will be addressed at that time.
This neighborhood level data could be utilized to track progress for air quality improvements based on strategic initiatives deployed in CECAP, and the comprehensive plan
