About the event

CECAP Goal 1: Dallas’ Buildings are Energy-Efficient and Climate Resilient.

Energy poverty is often defined as a situation where low-income households are not able to adequately provide basic energy services in their homes at affordable cost. Poor energy efficiency, inadequate insulation and old or inefficient heating systems are often the causes of energy poverty. The Energy Equip project proposes to address energy poverty by conducting outreach and education on ways to close the energy poverty gap. The goal of this effort would be to connect families on the lower end of the energy poverty spectrum with services or incentives that could help reduce utility bills and improve quality of life. An added benefit of reducing electric usage is reduced GHG emissions.

It will take diverse and innovative partnerships and efforts from all sectors to continue to reduce the energy burdens for thousands of North Texans. We are inviting participants from the housing construction/contractor community, academics, political representatives, organizations offering subsidies and incentives for weatherization, representatives from the LMI communities across North Texas and other subject matter experts.

This workshop is intended to be an interactive, facilitated exercise to gain input and thoughts to assist the stakeholders in the North Texas region in defining actions on these important issues and steps to move the region forward together through partnerships. As diverse organizations with goals to reduce energy poverty in North Texas, you are all uniquely trained and positioned to participate and provide valuable input to this discussion. This workshop will focus on building advocates and activating multi-sector organizations and individuals to take innovative action in order to help individuals and families across the region.
