Solar Energy Community Survey

Through the Comprehensive Environmental and Climate Action Plan (CECAP), Dallas has developed bold, long-term strategies to address climate change. One of the key means of demonstrating stronger climate action was by setting a target to increase solar power installed within the City to 739,000kW and 3,695,000kW by 2030 and 2050, respectively.

Ameresco Inc. has been contracted by the Office of Environmental Quality and Sustainability(OEQS) to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of City of Dallas owned properties and buildings for potential future installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. City sites are being evaluated across numerous factors including technical and financial potential, alignment with community and City priorities, and potential ecological impacts. The goal of this study to identify approximately ten of the best sites across the City to prioritize for near term construction of solar PV systems if funding is available.

Community engagement is a key factor in this study. To gather feedback we have launched a survey to gather input on resident's experience with solar energy and thoughts on how the City should prioritize solar investments.
